The TOUGHNOTE is a high-specification rugged laptop that is at home in the office as in the field. We recommend that this unit is seriously considered not only by people who work in harsh environments, but also those who work in site offices or on the road who wish to maximise the security of their valuable data.

The main components are cased in a cast aluminium chassis that is 20x stronger than the polycarbonate used in most other laptops.

It has a modular design: the shock-mounted, waterproof 2.5" hard disk, primary battery, and DVD / CD-ROM/floppy / secondary battery / LS-120 superfloppy are all removable. The latter five items are interchangeable in the innovative flexi-bay. If the floppy drive is required along with the CD-ROM it can be attached via the supplied cable.

This model, unlike almost all its competition has unrivalled connectivity. Specifically designed for communications technology it has two 9-pin enhanced serial ports (optional upgrade to 4 COM ports), an optional internal LAN card and 2 PCMCIA sockets. The display as standard is a very bright SVGA with an anti-reflective covering.
