The TOUGHNOTE 2000 is based on our standard Toughnote. The construction has the same robust features plus the following enhancements:

  • Pentium III 650 or 700 MHz CPU

  • USB port

  • Enhanced docking solution

  • AGP Graphics 2.5MB

  • maximum RAM now 512MB

  • DVD and CD-RW options

The main components are cased in a cast aluminium chassis that is 20x stronger than the polycarbonate used in most other laptops.

It has a modular design: the shock-mounted, waterproof 2.5" hard disk, primary battery, and DVD / CD-ROM/floppy / CD-RW / secondary battery / LS-120 superfloppy are all removable. The latter six items are interchangeable in the innovative flexi-bay. If the floppy drive is required along with the CD-ROM then it can be attached via the supplied cable.

This model, unlike almost all its competition has unrivalled connectivity. Specifically designed for communications technology it has two 9-pin enhanced serial ports (optional upgrade to 4 COM ports), an optional internal LAN card, 2 PCMCIA sockets and a vehicle dockunder option. The display as standard is a very bright SVGA with an anti-reflective covering.
